POETRY; HOPE IN THE DRAIN

HOPE IN THE DRAIN

A land used to be superfluous,
Where everyone dwell in surplus
With no thought of imminent horror
No one talked about our loss

We had the mantle
We traded and made multiple out of little
A land that vied with those with multiple
Before our economy sank and got toppled

Still, they say we are bless
With a land fatile but still brings less
And paupers suffers as they are being oppress

By the elite who conspicuously do not care
Destitute they throw into abyss of fear
Their cry, rulers are not willing to hear

Youths have been forgotten
With no jobs, on the street they are left to rotten

I stare at North and East, where i see no hope
I glance through tge west and south where i perceive no hope
Will the generation to come cope?
